My Favorite Things in 2014: Theater

BlitheSpiritDespite my less than wealthy status, I’m happy that I’ve continued to make going to live theater a priority. It’s not always easy, but it can be such a powerful experience that I hope that no matter what I’m doing professionally, I can always make it a part of my year.

This year, I’ve seen everything from Shakespeare to Noel Coward. I’ve seen theater powerhouse performers like Cecily Tyson (The Trip to Bountiful) and Angela Lansbury (Blithe Spirit), and I’ve consistently marveled at their skill, energy and presence (not to mention their impeccable timing). I’ve been exposed to new stories, like the tale of the real life rise of The Comedian Harmonists in Manilow and Sussman’s musical Harmony. And I’ve experienced new takes on music I knew well in We Will Rock You.

I only have a few tickets to shows for the first half of 2015, but you know that if I can manage it, there will be more!

How about you? Did live theater make your list of the best things about 2014?
