As I reflect on my increasing poverty, I find myself drawn to web zones like the Yahoo! Real Estate section.

Do my eyes deceive me? Are there no cities in SoCal on that list? Shocking. Shocking, I say.

It’s not that there aren’t many things to do in Los Angeles that are free or low-cost.  There are. Renting is just not one of them. Obviously, I could just move into the cupboard under Pen’s stairs. I have several large boxes that I could fashion into a lovely cardboard fortress. Also, I hear there are people who actually enjoy camping on the beach, so that option is always there in certain places that don’t close after dark. So… loads and loads of really good options… fairly good options…marginally decent options…

Or I could finally win the lottery.
