Fickle Career Thoughts

I headed up to the Getty on Friday night to take in the Herb Ritts exhibition and a sunset. I’m happy to say that this time around both things were actually achieved! Obviously, the photographs were amazing. This I anticipated.

What I didn’t anticipate is my newly found desire to become a photographer. And I only want to work in black and white.  All of this despite the fact that I have neither an artistic eye, nor any real equipment. I can’t really explain it. I was in the midst of the exhibit, and all of a sudden I had all of these ideas about images that I’d like to capture and how I’d like to do it.

Now, it is possible that this is in response to not only the brilliance of the photographs, but to my screenwriting class that is making my brain work overtime. Also, it would be an excellent procrastination tool, and we all know how much I enjoy that. Whatever the root of the motivation, I was very determined for at least twenty entire minutes to start looking for models and locations.

So, if you are in Los Angeles, you should go see this exhibit and then report back as to what you were suddenly motivated to do (unless it is something that would make me blush, of course– after all, I am a delicate flower).  If all of you come away with some new driving desire then I think we will all agree that the exhibit is actually magical (and if you don’t, I’ll tell you to go back again).
