The first of my favorite things about 2014 is an easy one: travel.

I have been up and down the coast, wandered the interior and even briefly dipped my toes into some ghost towns. I’ve become very fond of hot springs, in-room fireplaces and road stops that have massive tree houses in the middle of them.

California is a fascinating place, and I love that I’ve gotten to see mountains, oceans and deserts this year. The crazy thing is that I know I have only begun to skim the surface of the wonders of the state, and I’m already planning on continuing my explorations in 2015.
