Something about this time of year always signifies change to me. I’m not sure if it’s the cooler temps (at night, at least), the changing leaves (which I saw when I was traveling), or the looming holiday season, but October/November typically mean big changes for me.
Don’t believe me? I allowed myself to get set up on a blind date with Andy in November. If that doesn’t say change, nothing will.
This year I’ve been thinking a lot about next steps. I have a book out. We’re actively pursuing funding for the web series. I’m finally willing to jump back into re-writing a film script that has been sitting here since May, and I’m expanding my travel writing. These are all good things, even though they still represent wildly less secure options than my previous life offered.
And maybe that is what is weighing on me now—will the new steps actually lead to a level of security that will make me less stressed? It’s hard to imagine that this life will ever really be secure, but I can envision a version of this life that isn’t always chaos. I’m just not quite sure how to get that version.
Step one on this new path is clearly writing, writing and more writing. Some of that will be here on the blog, some will be on a new author website (which I will tell you about soon) and some of the writing will probably be a new book.
Step two is going to be a bit of re-organization of the various web sites, including this one and the travel one. For the moment, the Twitter pipeline (@katedating) will stay open, though I can see that changing down the line.
After that? It’s hard to say, but I hope that you’ll stick around for the ride!
